Hey everyone! Jenna here. I'm the project manager at HDco and want to make a quick introduction. I'm a grad of Stephen's College here in Columbia, MO and am super excited to join the Hoot team.
A huge part of being a project manager is keeping the team organized – and organization is my strong suit!
I'm definitely no design expert, but I can keep the team focused and on-task and make sure nothing is falling through the cracks.
To help keep YOU organized, I want to share some of my favorite organization tips.
You'll find a lot of strategies out there, but these three tips are tried and true – and extremely underrated!
Keep your business and life on track with these 3 essential, underrated organizational tips.
1. Make lists
You don't think this would help? Trust me, it does.
People have hundreds of thoughts every day, and it's easy to forget something that needs to be done.
Keep a list (in your phone, on the fridge, write it on your hand, whatever!) of things that need to get done today. Not tomorrow, TODAY! If you start adding things that need to be done next week or sometime in the future, you're going to get way too overwhelmed to make progress.
Just get the essentials down and you'll feel great each time you cross off an item.
2. Clean up your space
This one is seriously underrated. Declutter the space around you!
Some people say they can work with papers and sticky notes covering their desk. But the truth is that it's unproductive.
Say you're looking for a number you jotted down on the phone that you need to call back. You'll spend half an hour in a frenzy and probably not even recover the scrap of paper you need. Not helpful!
Get stackable trays to keep your papers organized, a big calendar to keep on the wall (if it's small you won't have space to write!), and any other organizational device to get that clutter out of your space and your mind.
3. Throw shit away!
Open your drawer right now. What do you see? An empty pack of gum? Scattered paper clips? Scraps of scribbled notes?
You don't need that shit taking up space. SO THROW IT AWAY!
Spend 10 minutes doing a desk detox to get rid of those annoying things you're never going to need. Spend another 10 minutes tomorrow, and the next day, and the next, and by the end of the week your office will be spotless!
