Hoot Design Co. and Silverbox Photography are at it again!

Hoot and Silverbox "Short and Sweet" collaboration sessions are making design magic. After having several fun and frenzied "Pajama Party's" in the studio with the darndest kids in CoMo, Hoot's new storybook prints are making their debut along side Silverbox's shots!

These 10 x 10 inch prints and photographs are beautifully combined by our North Village neighbors at Studio Home in a custom framed and matted 28 x 16 inch piece for $350. This custom piece can include a photo of your own choosing with a Hoot storybook print or photos from a Silverbox "Short and Sweet" shoot.

More fabulous photos of these prints will be available on the new and improved hootdesignco.com very soon! Keep checking back to be the first to see our exciting website renovations.

Thrifty Ginny Kim sent our hearts a-pitter-patter with her cozy cottage vision. Howell Family Farm in Arlington, TX hosts this celebration with Ginny + David’s DIY mason jars, fresh lemonade, mint mojito's, a polaroid guestbook, and softball for the kids. Think galvanized buckets for ice cold coke and local brew along with DELICIOUS Texas BBQ (yeah Rudy's!) served off the wrap-around porch and under the tall, tall trees. Aaah, a barn overlooking the gloriously gorgeous vineyard. Yes, please! We LOVE Chaumette Winery --the views, the staff, the FOOD!-- and have been eagerly awaiting the completion of their pinterest-worthy barn. It’s got an aweome vibe for a DIY wedding and we hear it's nearly finished! And hip-hip-hooray, the delightful Danielle + Matt submitted an epically sweet application wrapped in rustic elegance.

Antique windows will be used as seating charts with lanterns galore giving an ethereal and romantic feel. Cameos will make a cameo appearance, and tree stump slices with danielle and matt's initials carved into them add personalized charm. We recently completed a chevron baby shower invite for a dear friend. We love that it turned out pretty modern and not too babyish. A hip invite for a very hip mama! Love KGB

Michelle + Jay : Destination Cancun

We just wrapped up a super fun destination wedding invitation suite for Michelle + Jay. They're getting married in Cancun this April...and lets just say putting this suite together made us wish we were packing our bags too! The invite included a six-piece invite, wrapped up in a graphite Envelopment, and sealed with gold paper and a monogram square. They were then put in black linen envelopes, a nod to Michelle and Jay's love for their alma mater, Mizzou.

The invite included:

5x7 Invitation card

5x7 map of the resort designed by Hoot, with a vintage inspired photo of the actual location on the reverse side

5x7 card including travel tips and important contact information

4x6 restaurant guide and itinerary

3x5 postcard RSVP

Michelle was so fun to work with! She has a great eye for design, and the collaboration between the bride and Hoot could not have been better. Soon we'll be revealing the other collateral we're putting together for their wedding weekend. Love KGB.

We were so excited to be a part of Meggie + Jake's wedding here at Hoot. It was a perfect collaboration between client and designer. Meggie came to the table with LOADS of good ideas, pictures, swatches, tear outs, binders and the list goes on and on. It was easy to make sure we were on the same page with the bride and her vision for the wedding.

After we finished our handy work, Meggie added beautiful DIY touches like a lace wrap that bound her 3-part invitation together tied with twine. She hand stamped the envelopes and tied her programs with colorful ribbon. JUST the kind of bride Hoot loves to work with:)

We think you'll agree her paper goods helped contribute to an absolutely gorgeous wedding. (Tomorrow we'll show you pics from the actual shindig!)

Silverstein "Storybook" Print

Today we're shipping off a new "storybook" print to a happy customer. Holly requested a print similar to the one you see here based on a David Bowie song. Holly was hoping to use a Shel Silverstein quote. We used the same type of layout to create a custom piece of nursery art for one lucky little dude.

Bacon and Twins

Dealing with your first or any pregnancy can be challenging, awkward, and confusing. And sometimes even downright hilarious. Kristen's friend from college, Aline, at Bacon and Twins reassures us of these facts through her honest and always funny blog posts. Aline shares her and her husband's (commonly referred to as "S") journey through their discovery that Aline was pregnant, to then finding out they would be having twins, and all the preparations that come. Check out Aline's blog as she shares with you the important value of bacon and humor in her journey of becoming a new mother.

A Labor of Love : Our Holiday Cards

It's Kristen here today to share the Brown family holiday cards with you! And boy were these a labor of love. I have always wanted to do a bang up holiday card, and this year seemed like perfect timing with Moe Baby entering our lives in July. Hoot also started working with Envelopments in 2011, and I really wanted to use one of their paper products. I was super happy with the Z Card in Dove. It had a beautiful, subtle texture which held our ink choice (PMS 200) perfectly. We paired it with the square envelope in Geisha, and wrapped the Z Card in red and white baker's twine. The card was a three-panel piece, with the last panel including a 5"x5" photo of Moe.

The photo is one of my favorites of Moe Baby! Taken in the Hoot Design Co. / Silverbox Studio, by Annika Miller...we think it captured the little man in rare form, perfect to send to family and friends. Another aspect of the this card I loved was using a real photograph that people can keep throughout the year, unrelated to the holiday card. And when you're spending this much on a holiday card, you want it to be flexible:)

So "how much did it cost?" Good question! These cards were by far the most expensive we have ever done. They were right around $3 a piece with the Envelopment, one color printing, envelopes and photo. And of course that doesn't include any design fees:) If we were to market these to clients, they would most likely be looking at $5/card. Of course we think the sky's the limit with this design and could see it on invitations, baby announcements, wedding invites etc.

If you haven't yet gotten the word on what this bit of holiday fun entails, you are definltely missing out. Created with the kids in mind, the adults break even, if not a rare win with this fun-for-everyone activity.

The jist of the Elf on Shelf is to place your Elf (insert name of your choice, we like Elfis, the King) in differnet locations every night leading up to Christmas, with the kids searching for him in the morning. The reason your Elf wakes up in a new spot every morning is that he travels to the North Pole each night to report to Santa, who's been naughty and who's been nice. Parents. Watch yoself: this includes you.

You can really let your imagination run wild and create elaborate stories. Elf on the Shelf has officially slowed productivity at the Hoot office this winter, but we woudl have to say it was sooo worth it. Hope you enjoyed!
