Remember our old dry-erase calendar? Smudgy, ugly and outdated. It had to go.
And go it did! Out with the old and in with the new!
This sunny gem is the newest member of the Hoot team and boy, is it wonderful! At a grand total of $22.95, this DIY project is affordable and highly functional. Ikea fabric and ribbon cover a recycled cardboard rectangle overlayed by a sheet of plexiglass and encased in a recyled barnwood frame.

Now, I must admit... this yellow, cheery calendar was our second attempt. The first... well, let's just say that mod podging upscale paper to foam core did not work well for us. Not only did the botched attempt cost more ($4.95/each, 2 sheets of paper) but it also took much more time and energy to create. Plus, it ended up wrinkly and warped.
Here's the lowdown on our process:
Recyled packaging from Dick Blick
Yellow Ikea fabric ($6.99/yd)
(pre ironing shot!)
Paper Source ribbon ($3.95/roll)
Recycled barnwood frame from Hobby Lobby ($15 at 50% off)
FREE FIND! A framing shop recently moved and left behind some free plexi glass!
GRAND TOTAL: $22.95 NOT bad we say!
Here is where our original inspiration came from, thanks Prudent Baby!
So great we have this calendar to keep us organized with all the Hoot happenings...not to mention some cool office decor!
